The second workshop that I chose was Long Exposure Digital Pinhole photography. I chose this workshop because I have always had an interest in photography, and this is one area that I have no experience in. It was also interesting learning more about the different settings on the camera and how each setting effects the overall image. This is something that I think I'm going to take forward when photographing work, and possibly other subjects.
To create the pinhole we took a lens cap with a drilled hole and and a piece of aluminium can. We pierced a hole in the piece of can, placed a piece of dark film over the pierced aluminium can and stuck both over the lens cap. We then placed the pin hole lens cap on to the camera with out the main lens. This allows us to play with the exposure with the sensor and create interesting images. Plus the pin hole is the aperture that we are restricted to.
The overall photos were really interesting, although it was difficult trying to get any detail in the photographs. We decided to stay near the university while taking photographs. We found some interesting areas to photograph, including the river and buildings around the university.
I would definitely would want to try this again sometime, and really try and see what kind of images I can create. However, I'm not sure how I can link this into my current practice. I might have to research this area further.
