I wanted to continue with stitching and wanted to introduce some other materials along with the text. I used some fabric flowers and pulled the petals off and overstitched them onto the apron and bag. I chose these specific flowers as I felt that they were simple to stitch on, and the colours wouldn't contrast with the colour of the thread. I also stitched on the text this time, rather than stitching on printed text. I doubled up the thread and went over it a couple of times to make sure the text is clear enough and bold enough to be read. I also quite liked using different shades of the same colour within the text as it adds some dimension to the text.
I think this will be the last of the stitching for now. I feel that I have enough to be play around with. I think if I were to exhibit something from my work it would be the hand stitched pieces as they look really effective together. If I were to carry on with this I would start to move onto to household objects and either paint onto them or do something with them which has a similar effect to these pieces. I'm beginning to like this idea of taking household objects which are stereotyped as female orientated objects, and combining them with traditional methods such as stitching and/or painting etc. It creates this dialogue between ideas and methods, and blurs the line between activist piece and fine art piece. I think I would definitely take this further and create a series of these if I had the time, however I will do a experiment with an object to see how I can achieve this.
Furthermore, I think that upon closer inspection, and having looked at these pieces for a long time, the stitching does seem to be quite clumsy and bulky. This could be due to the thread that I used as it was quite thick. However, I felt that this thread would stand out against the patterned fabric. I might look into some more delicate stitching, possibly embroidery, to balance out the stitching. Some have noticed the stitching is a bit heavy handed, and that this could connote anger, which would work with the context of the pieces. Therefore I feel that having a more delicate, embroidered piece with similar text would compliment this well. This is something that I think I will definitely look into.

Things to do next:
- use everyday objects?
- use other methods? - paint?
- research into objects/activism/art?
- embroidery?
- embroidery?
