I was told to work on creating an acetate of my purple screen print ready for projection for the interim shows, and this required me to change the colours of my black and white version to purple in photoshop. After doing this I decided to experiment with my image and overlay different floral backgrounds on top of it. I also had to play around with the vibrance and contrast to get the colours to look as bold and bright as possible, and I also wanted to choose the effect that allowed most of the image to be covered by the floral backgrounds. I felt that these were interesting pieces by themselves, and have thought about printing them onto some photo paper and turn these into prints and final pieces.
I also decided to add text on some of them as I felt that this would be a good link back to my work and project ideas. I tried to get the text to overlap the image but also make the text slightly transparent so you could see the image underneath. I tried to use the most neutral colour which isn't too bright or bold, but was dark enough to read. I also made sure the text was bold and in capital letters so it would be a bold statement. I really liked how the text worked with the imagery, and how it doesn't take away from the image itself.
Overall, these work really well, and it was nice to experiment and play around in photoshop. It's something that I started to do last year and want to continue on with for the future. I think these will have to be final pieces along with everything else, and would probably like to use another image to experiment with, but I think these are enough for now. I think I would like to try and use my own images for the overlay, rather than use google images, perhaps use my own paintings and/or photographs of flowers, and see how that would look - hand made images used in a digital way. It definitely would be an interesting concept.
Things to do next:
- more experiments with own imagery?
- print out on photo paper/make them final pieces
